# Reporting Abuse to DigitalFyre

DigitalFyre takes abuse reports seriously and aims to address all valid complaints in a timely, fair, and transparent manner. This page outlines the proper reporting procedure for abuse related to domains, websites, IP addresses, and services on our network.

## Before You Submit a Report

Verify that the IP address or domain in question is associated with DigitalFyre infrastructure. Many IP addresses are reassigned ("reallocated") to downstream providers such as hosting companies, VPN services, or resellers. In those cases, contact the provider directly.

You can check ownership and reallocation status using the [ARIN WHOIS](https://www.arin.net/) database. If the IP is listed as "Reallocated," scroll to the **Point of Contact** section for the responsible abuse contact.

If you have already contacted the responsible provider and they fail to respond or cooperate within a reasonable timeframe, you may escalate to DigitalFyre by opening a ticket with the [Abuse Department](https://console.digitalfyre.com/submitticket.php?step=2\&deptid=2).

## Abuse Categories

### Spam

If you are reporting unsolicited email:

1. Check the email headers to identify the originating IP address
2. Use a WHOIS tool to identify the abuse contact for that IP
3. If the IP is part of our network and has been reallocated to a customer, their abuse contact will be listed — contact them directly first
4. If there is no response, submit a ticket to the [Abuse Department](https://console.digitalfyre.com/submitticket.php?step=2\&deptid=2) and include the full headers and message as a plain-text attachment

<Warning>
  DigitalFyre cannot investigate spam complaints involving third-party mail services (e.g., Gmail, SendGrid, Mailgun) as we do not control those systems. We may act only on domains hosted with us if the domain is blacklisted by a trusted authority (e.g., Spamhaus, SURBL) or contacted by a legal authority.
</Warning>

### Phishing

Report phishing attempts involving fake websites, login pages, or impersonation immediately. Include:

* A screenshot of the phishing page
* The full URL
* A short description of the targeted entity or brand

Submit via the [Abuse Department](https://console.digitalfyre.com/submitticket.php?step=2\&deptid=2).

### Malware or Malicious Content

If you believe a domain or website hosted on our network is distributing malware, report it to the [Abuse Department](https://console.digitalfyre.com/submitticket.php?step=2\&deptid=2). If the malicious content is hosted elsewhere, contact that hosting provider directly.

### Copyright Infringement (DMCA)

To report unauthorized use of copyrighted material:

1. Submit a **DMCA-compliant notice** via a ticket to the Abuse Department
2. Ensure your notice complies with all [DMCA requirements](https://www.copyright.gov/dmca)

If the domain's WHOIS is privacy-protected, you may still send an email to the protected address (e.g., `xxxxx@whoisguard.com`), which will forward to the domain owner.

### Trademark Infringement

If a domain registered with us uses your trademark or a confusingly similar name:

1. Submit a ticket to **Domains — Legal and Abuse**
2. Include proof of trademark ownership and describe the violation

Additional documentation may be requested before any action is taken.

### Fraud & Online Crime

If you are the victim of online fraud or are aware of criminal activity:

1. File a complaint with the [Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)](https://complaint.ic3.gov/)
2. Contact local authorities or your legal representative

DigitalFyre cooperates fully with law enforcement and legal investigations upon receipt of valid documentation.

### Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)

Reports involving CSAM are handled with the highest priority. Submit a ticket to the [Abuse Department](https://console.digitalfyre.com/submitticket.php?step=2\&deptid=2) immediately. Confirmed cases are reported to the appropriate authorities and child protection organizations.

### Gambling Websites

DigitalFyre does not permit the hosting of gambling or casino-related platforms where users can wager real or virtual currency. Report violations to the [Abuse Department](https://console.digitalfyre.com/submitticket.php?step=2\&deptid=2).

### Invalid WHOIS Information

If a domain registered with DigitalFyre contains inaccurate or falsified WHOIS information:

1. Submit a ticket to the [Abuse Department](https://console.digitalfyre.com/submitticket.php?step=2\&deptid=2)
2. If your personal data is being used without your consent, include documentation verifying your identity (e.g., government-issued ID and proof of address)

## Requests from Government & Law Enforcement

Requests involving legal enforcement or regulatory action — such as subpoenas, data preservation requests, takedown notices, or other formal legal inquiries — must meet the following requirements:

* The request must come from a **recognized government or law enforcement email domain** (e.g., `.gov`, `.mil`, or official agency domains)
* The email must include the full name and title of the requesting officer, the name of the agency, a **direct phone number** for verification, and any relevant case or reference number

DigitalFyre does not accept legal or law-enforcement requests from personal email providers (Gmail, Outlook, ProtonMail, etc.) or from anonymous senders. The team may contact the listed phone number to confirm authenticity before taking action.

For questions about whether your request qualifies, contact [abuse@digitalfyre.com](mailto:abuse@digitalfyre.com).

## Response Times

All abuse reports must be submitted via the ticketing system. Live chat agents are unable to assist with abuse cases.
