The WordPress Toolkit lets you clone your live site to a staging environment so you can test changes, updates, or redesigns without affecting your live site.
Creating a Staging Clone
Go to WordPress
Log in to Plesk and click WordPress in the left sidebar.
Clone the Site
Find your live WordPress installation and click Clone.
Set the Destination
Choose a destination — typically a subdomain such as staging.example.com. Plesk will create the subdomain automatically if it does not exist.
Confirm
Click Clone. The Toolkit will copy all files and the database to the new location.
The staging site is a full independent copy of your live site. Changes made to staging do not affect the live site until you push them.
Pushing Changes to Live
Once you are satisfied with changes on staging, you can push them back to the live site:
Open the Staging Site
In the WordPress Toolkit, find your staging installation.
Push to Production
Click Push to Production and select what to push — files, database, or both.
Confirm
Review the options and click Push. The live site will be updated.
Pushing the database from staging to production will overwrite your live database. Ensure you have a recent backup via JetBackup before proceeding.
