Edge Cache improves your site’s performance by serving cached pages directly from the closest server to your visitor, significantly reducing Time to First Byte (TTFB). It is enabled by default on all WP Cloud instances.

Accessing Edge Cache Settings

From your instance, go to Advanced → Edge Cache.

Settings

Enable Edge Cache

Toggles Edge Cache on or off for the instance. Edge Cache is enabled by default and recommended for all production sites.
If you have Cloudflare Proxy active on your domain, running both Edge Cache and Cloudflare’s caching simultaneously will cause caching conflicts, resulting in inconsistent content or broken pages. Use one or the other — not both. See Cloudflare for details.

Purge

Manually clears the Edge Cache, forcing the next visitor request to fetch a fresh version from the origin server. The cache is cleared automatically when your site’s content is updated. Manual purging should only be done in rare circumstances — clearing the cache unnecessarily causes a temporary performance drop while the cache rebuilds. To purge from anywhere in the interface, click the Cache button in the top action bar of your instance.

Defensive Mode

Defensive Mode provides on-demand DDoS and spam bot protection. When enabled, visitors briefly see a browser challenge page before accessing the site. Legitimate users pass through automatically. A cache duration dropdown (default: 30 minutes) controls how long the challenge result is cached per visitor.
Enable Defensive Mode temporarily if your site is under a bot attack or experiencing unusual traffic. Disable it once the threat has passed to avoid impacting the experience for legitimate visitors.
