WP Cloud automatically backs up your WordPress site on a regular schedule. You can also create manual backups, restore from any backup, or download backups directly from PanelAlpha.
How Backups Work
WP Cloud creates two types of automatic backups:
| Type | Frequency | What’s Backed Up |
|---|
| Database backup | Hourly (when changes are detected) | WordPress database — posts, pages, settings, users |
| Directory backup | Daily (when file changes are detected) | wp-content directory — themes, plugins, media |
Manual backups are available in two separate slots:
- 1 Manual Database Backup slot
- 1 Manual Directory Backup slot
Backups are visible in the Backups tab of your instance. Each entry shows the date, type (database or directory), size, and whether it was automatic or manual.
Creating a Manual Backup
Open the Backups Tab
From your instance, click the Backups tab.
Click Add New
Click + Add New to create a manual backup.
Select Backup Type
Choose whether to back up the database, the directory, or both.
You can also click Create Backup directly from the Site Details tab for a quick one-click backup.
Restoring a Backup
Open the Backups Tab
From your instance, click the Backups tab.
Find the Backup
Locate the backup you want to restore from the list.
Click Restore
Click the restore icon next to the backup and confirm.
Restoring a backup overwrites your current site data with the contents of the backup. Any changes made after that backup was created will be lost.
Downloading a Backup
To download a backup to your computer, click the download icon next to any backup in the list. This gives you a local copy you can store independently.
