Subdomains let you create separate sections of your site under a different prefix, such as blog.example.com or shop.example.com.

Creating a Subdomain

1

Go to Websites & Domains

Log in to Plesk and click Websites & Domains in the left sidebar.
2

Select Your Domain

Find the domain you want to add a subdomain to and click Subdomains beneath it.
3

Add a Subdomain

Click Add Subdomain.
4

Enter the Subdomain Name

Enter the prefix only — for example, enter blog to create blog.example.com. The document root will be set automatically.
5

Confirm

Click OK. The subdomain will be created and ready to use.

Notes

  • Subdomains use the same nameservers as the parent domain — no additional DNS changes are needed.
  • Each subdomain gets its own document root folder, so files are kept separate from the main domain.
  • You can install an SSL certificate on a subdomain the same way as a primary domain. See Installing a Free Let’s Encrypt SSL Certificate.
